turtle cause for concern?

Well the turtle can also cause disease to spread through your fish if the turtle is infected....

Thanks for the input. The turtle is gone. We may be having turtle soup this winter!! Actually, I shot him w/ a .22. I kinda felt bad, but couldn't justify the expense or risk trying to trap him for I was afraid of harming the 10lb catfish who live in the pond. They would be attracted by the bait. So, problem solved.

everything ive ever heard on the turtle subject has been negative....basically they are filthy, disgusting, disease carrying, preditory, water fowling pond pests.... i wouldnt have them in a pond with fish i cared about.

I couldn't disagree more. I have always had a minimum of 2 turtles in my 1000 gallon pond without a single problem. I have had red ear sliders, painted turtles, and stink pots not to mention my Box turtles taking an occasional swim. I've never lost a fish and my water is always crystal clear. As long as they're well fed they don't waste their time hunting. They can occasionally disrupt a plant or two but not destroy them. They have great personalities and will eat out of your hand. My fish aren't even the slightest bit afraid of them, if fact they will bump the turtles out of the way to get to their food!

I do agree that the Snapper had to go though. They'll eat fish no matter what!
