The video did not work for me either because it is set to private. Honestly Im no expert at this but I would be checking the connections of the hoses and pipes for air leaks. Is there a spot where the pipe goes up, then down and bit, then back up? That is where an air bubble would likely collect and lose prime.

Sorry about that. I fixed that part and added this one:

When the pond guy came over on thursday he went from backwash and skipped rinse. As a result the water got really murkey because it dumped a whole bunch of sludge into the pond.. I'm wondering if that is what killed my fish. :(
Looking at it my friend I dont think so, but I have friends with simmilar filters too you and there is a great difference in water quality , how often do you do water changes ?

How do you feel the flow was in the first video ?

Could you ? Take the pump out let line apart and run the pump by it self not through the filter, and see what kind of flow you get.

This test would tell you ,
If your pump is sucking air or not .
Or if the filter restricts the pump flow so much it can't run normal.

ok, sorry for the delay folks Halloween kicked my butt :)

So I did what you guys said and bypassed the basket and went straight into the pump with a long flex pipe I know works without leaks.

Here is the video. You can hear the sucking noise but it takes up zero water.

Does this prove now its the pump?

Glad to see you check back.
I still want to see the outlet of the pump disconnected , maybe put a short hose on it .
Leave the suction side just like You got it and see what happens

Are you saying you want to see the pipe going towards the filter like this?

Yes
I want to see that pipe unhooked from the filter, to see how the flow is

Ok, I cut the feeder hose and put a bucket of water about a foot away, turned it on and nothing. No joy. Water stayed at the same level.

And I know you are going to get on me about priming so I filled the tube with a hose up to the top, turned it on and immediately put it in the water. Still no suction. Put my finger in front of the hose in the water and nothing.

I know you all have been checking this thread daily, sometimes twice a day, hoping, praying I would give you an update. Well wait no longer! :D

Had a pond company out today (second one) This one was a lot better. they took their time, checked for leaks and have taken the pump back to their shop for testing and water output. should know something in a few days.

I am late to the party (as usual).

Your pump, based on the video, never succeeded in developing a full prime. That is the problem. Without being on-site, it is difficult to say what is causing that. The usual culprit is an air leak.

I thought you were going to disconnect that white pipe going in to the filter !
If the pump comes back working ,that would be my next step

I did. We rebuilt one when they came over today but it still had weak performance and thats why they took it.

I'm not leaking water which is good but my biggest fear is that there is something wrong with the pipe going to the drain itself.
