I do hear that dogs w/ that long or thick fur don't do well w/those invisible fence's. There is a Chow that lives near us that is not effected at all by the fence. So she wanders freely but she is so old and does not ever bother anything. I just hope she doesn't get hit by a car cuz she wanders all over the road. Been years tho and she never gets hit.

Maybe that is why she gets loose .He could not figure it out .Have to mention it to him .The people down the street have dalmations and no problems with them getting out .They have there house up for sale .Another poorly built Haymore built house up for sale .He is the worst builder .I saw them at the dump when we were taking the garbage there .He mentioned all the problems they have had .Heat pump ,well pump ,pressure tank ,plumbing leaks and sewer pipe leaks .House was brand new when they bought it and 4 years later and all the appliances died .They are giving up and moving on ,that is if they can sell it

If you have a dog w/thick hair you have to shave it's neck area. The people w/the Chow didn't like doing that all the time so just gave up. The dog looked rather weird w/a shaved neck but better safe in the yard then wandering out to get in trouble and possible shot. They will shoot out here if dogs get into their livestock.

With those invisible fences, your dog has to be trained to use it first.
If you have an excited dog that runs across it, it will keep the dog out of the bounday just as easily as it is supposed to keep the dog in.

Yes I had to train my cats also. I had to put them on a long leash staked out there so they could try it out. Did not take long for them to figure out the boundaries. Never used one on a dog myself but have been out walking and see many who use them here successfully.

I am hopeful that today will be our last early morning freeze, with water in containers on my deck having ice in them. The peepers were singing about 3 weeks ago, and this has been the third freeze.
Koi were up and swimming about last week in the light drizzle one morning. Today temps going up to 50's, and then up to 70 this coming week. Pretty sure everyone will be happy as can be by then.

Glad to hear you think that was the last frost CE! ha ha ha Lets hope so and then we can be well on our way to spring!

Thought I would mention that little Rio still looks small to me, but looks about twice the size of her real mommy and other sisters. Another thing too, little Rio's hair is getting pretty long in some areas, about over two inches in some spots! Wondering if the hair is just going to keep growing? Not sure who fathered the little sweet thing!

Took a pic of my koi pond this morning to show a ponder my bogs. She is going to rebuild, and I've suggested she get on this forum! I feel like an expert with her, and know that I am FAR FAR FAR from being that, but I was able to answer her questions, and learn a bit myself while answering. LOL

So, today begins warmer temps, and I'm sure ready for everything to come alive around my ponds, too!

LOTS of algae in there, the stuff that grows on the walls and things in the pond. But, I'm not too concerned, as this happens each year when the algae starts going before the beneficial bacteria and plants start growing and get control over it.
