My new koi has been in the pond for a week. I wasn't able to QT, as I had to leave town on a family matter. I spoke with a member of our local koi club and they said it would be worse to incorrectly QT ( husband will feed fish etc, but doesn't know about testing, water changes etc), than take a chance in pond, then treat later if needed.

I decided against treating the pond with a broad spectrum med when I added her, after reading advice here. I am hopeful things will continue smoothly, but most definitely want to plan better if I add another koi next summer.

@Tula I didn't know you got a new Koi. Did you post any pictures?

@MariaTeresa I learned the hard way as well.... And yes, It is much easier and cheaper to treat in a quarantine then to have to do it in the main pond/tank.
I haven't posted a picture yet. I was out of town and am leaving agin tomorrow morning. This evening I sat by my pond thinking about how I can't wait to get back to it :)

She is a Ginrin chagoi ......I've wanted one for a few years, because of their personality. I named her Cha Cha.

Oh Tula and I thought you were going to QT the koi when you got it :(
It wouldnt have taken you 15 minutes to explain to your husband and all would have been we'll :(
