Yikes! Spent about $95 on ink for my HP 7500A Multipurpose Printer today! Thankfully did not need any for our Canon or Epson photo printers. Ink cost is outrageous yet using the generic refillable stuff is unpredictable and potentially bad for the ink jets.

You are right, Lou.
I'm saving more and more things to PDF these days, unless I really need a hard copy.

lou...site activity does appear to have dropped recently. wether or not the new format has anything to do with it, is a good question.

we get our ink cartridges from "cartridge world" they refill and or refurbish them. we havent had any issues with them, in 10 years atleast. bring in the old ones for exchange credit. we have an HP photosmart, an epson. and a Lexmark photo studio series. oh, there was one time i had to return one...the printer couldnt recognize it.

QUESTION... any one have a lazer printer? are they that much better than a inkjet?

I'm not posting as much because my pond is the exact same as it was 5 months ago - a flat snowy surface. Not a lot to update...
I'm using this time to learn how to make a webpage and taking more education for my work.
I'm also exercising more (treadmill and weight machine). Too much chair time will lead to health problems.
I need to be in better shape for when landscaping activity starts up in the spring.
My other indoor hobbies (reeftank, freshwater tank, aquaponics, cooking, wine and beer making) are taking a lot of time too.

I have a black and white laser printer (HP laserjet 1320N). It's great for fast cheap printing. The laser cartridge lasts a long time.
If I want to do a quality picture print, I use my new inkjet (HP Officejet Pro 8600). It's a much higher quality print.

I have a Canon printer, bought it brand new last summer, ink cartridges went empty, used too much printing the flyers when my Yukon went missing. Went to replace them, $20 for b/w, $30 for color!!! Holy cow, I could buy a brand new wireless Canon, same one I have but wireless, for $60. But, they come with less ink in the cartridges than the new sets. So, I checked on-line, and they are about half of less to buy refurbished. The problem with mine is Walgreens said they could not refill my cartridges, so I'm left with buying refurbished ones instead. I saw on one site on Ebay that the seller had specific instructions to load the cartridges, otherwise your printer may not recognize it. May order from that seller.

I'M PRETTY SURE I'VE POSTED THIS BEFORE BUT.....
1013261_449324131841785_1325522507_n.jpg

SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?"
SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you... ask such a thing?"
SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "If you must know, I make $100 an hour."
SON: "Oh! (With his head down).
SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow $50?"
The father was furious.
DAD: "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

DAD: "Are you asleep, son?"

SON: "No daddy, I'm awake".
DAD: "I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $50 you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.
SON: "Oh, thank you daddy!"
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

DAD: "Why do you want more money if you already have some?"

SON: "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do.

"Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

Some things are more important

I have seen that one but sometimes things need to be reminded again and again for them to sink in to those who have kids and actually that could be applied to anyone's family members or even friends and acquaintances.
Reminds me of a song from the past. I know it is a war/peace song but it can also apply on loving one another and caring each and every day. Just listen to the words and soak it in Man

"The Dollar", song by Jamey Johnson, has the same story line as above, KoiGuy. It's more "country" than the new country that I prefer, but always liked it, because of the story behind it. Each time I tried to attach a youtube or just the song, it wanted me to buy it. o_O

Yep, it's bitterly cold here this a.m. I see it says I'm at -4, which is what weather channel says, too. But, the sun is shining so brightly!!!
It's a short week for me, so I'm sure not complaining!!! Wed off due to President Lincoln's birthday, since he was from Illinois. Monday next week off due to President's Day. LOL I'm loving it! But, then no holidays until Memorial Day. Jan and Feb always spoil us with 2 days off each month (and Nov. has 3 and Dec. 2, also!!!), then nothing for over 3 months. Oh well, can't complain, since I get 12 holidays working for the State. :)
