What's wrong with Gin & Tonic (with a slice of lemon or lime)?

Tonic has quinine in it (which is a malarial remedy), and as an added bonus, citrus prevents scurvy.

It's therefore medicinal and doesn't count as an alcoholic beverage.

Actually, I'm pulling my self-invite until January.......never leave good weather for good weather.....only leave bad weather for good weather.

I came back from the Caribbean much too early this year..................live and regret.

I use Baquacil Oxidizer at a rate of one cup for every 2000 gallons of pond water. I add this every other day till the algae dies. Baquacil Oxidizer contains 27% Hydrogen Peroxide. You can buy it at pool supply stores

Will that hurt fish or plant life? Never heard of this before

There are a few things that could be contributing to your string algae problems. Not enough aquatic plants, too many fish, too much fish food, not enough filtration, run-off from fertilized lawns, improperly installed pond skimmers, incorrect use of water treatments to name some.

Do a search for sodium percarbonate. There has been a lot of discussion on it in the past few months. It's about $3dollars a pound on Ebay.

Thanks for your thoughts. It was probably a bit of everything (except I don't even have a skimmer). I don't use any chemicals at all in the pond. At the time it was newish. I added an aerator and it totally cleared up in a few weeks.

I've since struggled with green water and was told maybe I had too many fish, over feeding etc - it too just cleared up, so I think I am just experiencing pond cycles. I'm so busy with our new dog, I'm just rolling with whatever happens at this point.
