It is pouring today, the stream ponds are filling up and running down the stream, just like they should. We would have to get a horrendous rain fall for the stream to overflow. It can't wash out as the stream bed is made out of liner. So far we did have one storm dropping 6 inches an hour and it still did fine.

I put mini french drains and small dirt berms on the up hill slopes of the stream, they help path the water around the stream bed.

I watched the water flow we had with rains before the build, made a design that could handle it. So far so good.

I have no worry. I live in western Oregon where it rains about 5 times a week in the winter. I put overflows in my ponds which keeps the water at the level I want.
If I had something to worry about it would be the rain lowering my pH.
My pH out of the tap is very high so I don't have any problem's with the pH.

I just got my ph back to normal and now this heavy rain. I have 2 areas to allow overflow .I just got my water back to clear yesterday but this was a lot of rain .I guess this is normal for spring but every time I get my water right it rains hard back to square one I guess.I'm not alone and doing better than I thought for this time of the year

I 'm trying to remember it was below 140 I know that but we had so much rain since yesterday how accurate can that be .I leave everything down in the basement .We had close to 3 inches of rain here since 2 this morning until I took the pic of the water gage by the pond around 2 this afternoon and thats when I tested the pond .I just started the filters up here around 2 weeks ago maybe less .ph was 7

What do you guys use to check PH? Strips or a meter?

I use the liquid test kits, the strips seem to read it wrong. You can get test kits that do ph etc for around 9 dollars on ebay. I read up on meters, but they did not seem to be real accurate until you spent a lot of money.

Even the ones you spend a lot of money for don't work that well .I think I have 5 kinds and non of them test the same but I figured I had them use them and see what each reads .Mind boggling things they are .It's like a rainbow for your pond all the colors all the different readings .
