Hahaha. We have no kids of our own. Just all the neighborhood kids and friend’s kids who get to find out there are interesting things other than phones and games. My wife is really good with them. She has rules that they must abide by or they can’t visit Mr. Dan. LOL!
Beware the realm of ponds and neighborhood kids... Its good that you have laid down the ground rules. But I had to deal with this when I had horses....(In this day and age of lawsuits... Lawyers like to call these things, "an attractive nuisance".) So any kids that I found stomping into our yard with pockets of sugar cubes or apples in hand; I had to stop them and happily invite them back - with their parents. They were instructed to only visit if we were home, taught how to avoid the electric fence, not to open any gates, and they could only offer the treats we gave them; and they were shown how to feed the treats so little fingertips didn't get accidently nipped. Still, I used to sweat it every time...please not let them trip and fall down on our property, etc....

Thanks for all the suggestions and info. Our backyard has a 6’ fence and all of our neighbors are fenced so no uninvited visitors. In addition, the rules for entry are pretty stiff with my wife holding the top enforcement job. The kids range from 4-18 and all of their parents are aware of the rules. The 18 year group are ones who previously or currently mow and take care of our yard when we are away. So far, no one has feed the fish including us. The fish have been gorging on pond stuff and seem quite content. They seem to find something on the bottom of the water lilies that makes seeing them even in the murky green possible.
