a 20 second video
i let NDK know about the 6 DOAs and another 6 or so setting on bottom with clamped fins. death toll is at 10. this does not please me. but theyre cooperative. he said give him a final tally in a few days. wanna keep an eye on everyone for a few days..especially the clampers. i believe it was ammonia burn... warm water in bag, not properly packaged. I'll give them a couple days.

Most look nice and frisky but I see a couple just resting on the bottom. Sorry for those that got packaged and sent poorly. Hope they will make good on the ones that die and hope a bunch more don't die. I think I'd give them a week at least to see what happens but that's just me.

O.K guys...I am truly upset.. i have never purchased fish online before.
anyways i checked the fish at about 7:00 friday they hadnt been here 12 hours yet, and over 30 dead. i shot the video about 3:00 and the fish seemed to be perking up. saturday morning the count was 52... in about 24 hours. over the last 2 days 17 more...for a total mortality of 69 as of now. i just checked the package the fish were shipped in...8 lbs thats the weight of 1 gallon of water. 100 fish in 1 gallon of water? now i read that many fish shippers add a sedative to the water. for shipping. now thats what i thought was done and thats why they were sluggish. and after a slow acclimation and getting them in fresh water they seemed to be perking up as in video. i contacted the seller as soon as i opened the bag and found 6 DOAs...he said contact him in few days with a final tally. so now i have to cut the tails off 63 fish take a pic and post it in a message to him, on ebay.... anyone do business with 'Next Day Koi' before?

geez that sucks ........poor fish. I spoke to someone at a fish pond store, he said the fish are usually shipped with very little water and a sedative. (this was a few weeks ago) I was curious as to how they shipped fish. And kept at 56 degrees, he said they are real cold when they arrive.

my fish arrived in warm, cloudy water and it smelled bad. but it looked like everything was looking up for a while. that must have just been coming out of the sedative. like i said..first time having any shipped to me.
all cuz i wanted to start some new breeding stock.
i've raised 1000s of koi, without incident.

Personally koi guy I wouldnt be tempted to buy my koi on line at all .
You have no idea where these fish come from originally or if even they are KHV free and is something that puts me right off buying online in the first place, after a good koi friend of mine lost his pond to this last year. :(
This was soley due to his online bought koi carrying the KHV virus when he bought them, he lost a collection taking decades to put togther.
It's just not worth the risk my friend at least with a face to face dealer there is some comeback , I'm not saying the guy isnt being straight up with you and hope he keeps his promise to you

well weve chatted.. this is the last message i recieved from NDK.
THEY HAVE RENEWED MY FAITH IN THEM....

Dear -------------, sorry for the heavy loss. The baby butterfly koi are so small and fragile that I don't think they ever recover from shipping stress. We have had the same mortality rate from other customers, so we will no longer offer the baby butterfly koi of this size. They are just too hard to transport and deliver safely.

I can send you a refund for the complete transaction, and you may spend your refund on the purchase of other items, if you would like. I'd rather not try to send any more baby butterflies as replacements, as I suspect the same thing will happen. If you are looking for butterfly koi, the smallest we currently have now is 4 to 5 inch.

Sad they died, but great the company responded in that manner.
