Newday3000 If I put a cover over the bubble stone (I could do that) would that work to keep the ice from freezing the stone? Let me know. RDK

After that big snow fall, I had white snow covering everything, including the hole with airstone and pump. The next day white snow turned to slush and if temp drops would freeze solid. The pump, airstone work well against temperature but not a big dump of snow.

Yellow circle is snow that will now freeze solid since it's slushy now. Red circle is where air stone and pump keep hole open. I think I will put a 2 x 4'x4' plywood over the hole to avoid snow turning into ice.

Should also avoid me needing to clear snow away from the hole all winter. I'm going to use a metal braket and make a simple V out of plywood and then stand it over the hole (red circle).

Will post a pic when I'm done.

We've had very low temps here the last few days. It never got above freezing and the low was 8 degrees. My pond has maintained a temp of 48 down from 55. Next week it should go up again,
