I never used a timer with my aerators, just ran them 24/7. I did swap out the big one for a smaller one during winter months.

my small one died along with my disk pond heater . These power outages are causing lots of problems here . Some times it can g on and off 6 times in a hour . That is all because the new sub station parts don't work . The utility company bought garbage from China .

Love bears,
but rather glad they don't come by. They demand many specific actions be taken to prevent your place from getting torn up.

I didn't know bears had a distinctive smell. It sounds like you've some experience with bears and know to be careful.
Think about a wet dog or something left out in the rain for too long day after day. smells like a soil thats on the edge of becoming a moldy coat MOSS AND MOLD can be found in the fur be it grew there or just trapped they can stink

and lets not forget the garbage smell they carry on them . I went to the dump this morning with my garbage and they have a sign warning people to be careful because bears have been spotted there . In PA we had brown bears and to be honest I think they don't smell as bad as black bear . I had a black bear face off against my truck when my sister and I were going to the Eden NC flea market . Stood up and kept walking towards my truck and I kept backing up and backing up . The road never has that much traffick on it . It was right by the hops plant ,They proccess hops I guess the smell attracts them to that area . An employee at the plant saw it on security camera and came out to help and just then a small car came from the other way . All that is out there is factories on that road . My sister took pics with her cell phone . They now put up signs that say caution bears in the area . I have been going to that flea market since 2004 and have seen them off in the distance but never that close up . I got a bull horn to scare them away . Farmers I see have been doing more patrol of their fields . I see thier side by side headlights going across thier fields at night

Oh The DUMP !
Who could forget the Dump Ducks! Bald eagles, black bears ,seagulls, possum, raccoons, skunk, RATS, deer, coyotee. I was in Maine with a harsh winter. I went to the dump and there had to be 30 bald eagles. When the ponds and lakes freeze over they all head for hydro dams and dumps.
My first finding of this i stayed about 2 hour. 2 hours too long! Just being in the air , not foraging smelled ripe for some time.
