I bought an Oase PondoVac 4 system and it works like a charm. It runs continuously, you never have to empty it. It empties itself when it's full through a discharge hose that has a mesh bag on the end of the hose to trap the debris that was vacuumed up.

It recycles the pond water, no refilling. I'm very happy with it, although it was a bit pricey. Hey, you only live once and you can't take it with you.

King Tut took everything he had with him, and he still looks terrible. :)

Get one of these: Oase PondoVac 4. They're a bit pricey, but you can't take it with you. King Tut took everything he had with him, and he looks terrible:)

The great thing about this system is that it works continuously, you suck up the water/debris with the hose wand, it goes into the holding chamber and when the chamber is full, the flap valve opens and everything that's in the holding chamber is discharged through the hose right back into your pond. There's a mesh bag on the end of the hose to trap the debris/leaves/etc. Well built, a real workhorse. The bonus is that it recycles the pond water. There's videos of this system on YouTube.
