Very old thread @Chumley , but no - sandhill cranes are not like herons. They don't fish.

Old thread but new question so....
I've had them in my yard since before I had the pond, they haven't been a threat to my pond in fact they have never even looked at it, they are happy just eating corn and bread

They are lovely birds! The first few times I saw them, I was like "OSTRICH!" haha!
