Redesign of bog/wetland filter

I have a skimmer where I use only the filter basket with the helix system and a basket at the main pump that comes from the bottom drain. they then get pumped by 3 inch line out to the bog where it splits to two 2 " lines both with a ball valve so I can regulate the flow tow them both.. The pond is 6 foot deep and while I have had some people jump on me saying thats not crystal clear, at 6 foot deep I have no issues with the clarity what so ever.

Figured I would update the pond and bog pics

First two shots are the jungle portion of the pond which is about 20” deep



Bog pics....idk why but I didn’t toss the iris instead planted it in the corner and seeing if I can contain it in that corner with large rocks




Last is pic of deep end if I wasn’t lazy I would have moved the portion of the net that hangs down

Will let you know how it does.... the others two Bengal Tiger and black knight I’ve had in the past and they were huge by the end of the growing season, with a lot of flowers.

I think you will be glad you kept your iris. I have had a love/hate relationship with my iris for years. In the beginning they were fine, but then they took over and I thought they were too much work. I ended up getting rid of the iris, only to buy more later! I had tried going with rushes instead but their root systems were worse than the iris and I didn't think they looked as nice.

Thanks, yeah I couldn’t bring myself to toss the iris, so will see how it does trying to contain it in the corner of the bog with the larger rocks.

Ours finaly bloomed as well it took for ever. the bog is looking pretty sweet love the forground dark lined canna

Bog is doing well canna and taros have taken over, be interested to see if any of the taros or cannas make it over the winter in the bog as a few were transplanted from the yard....


Had left over rocks from a job so......looks like at some point will be expanding the pond, now that I have about 10 tons of rock in my yard. Not that it needs it, but ehhh I like building things, and why not I guess...Definitely bringing some type of excavator home to do it, (most likely rent one since all the ones I own are way too big). The only mini ex we have is old and doesn’t like to work too hard...

I have never had mine survive in the bog over winter so I've been bringing mine in.
