add salt to your bird bath (kosher salt or non iodized ) keeps the bird bath water from freezing and is good for the birds digestion and also helps keep the water fresh and cleaner longer and ceases algae growth .You can even put in a teaspoon of peroxide because that is also good to keep water fresh ,clean and algae free and does not harm the birds .I have been using it for years to many to remember as I used it as a small child .

COUNTRY -- We'll have to "talk" over in the chat area ;) If you know your horses, you know what they say, "It's not IF they'll get in trouble, it's WHEN!"

SISSY -- Thanks for the salt and H2O2 tips! Never heard of that, but will have to give it a try. What proportions of salt to H2O and of H2O2 to H2O are safe?

Haha, yep, that's right, TM. Horses tend to get themselves in trouble so easily. I have 2 pretty good girls, though. Just one line of electric wire keeps them in the pasture ... most of the time. LOL If I leave a wire gate down, they will find it every time. And, turn off the electric and they may not find it for 2 months, but when they do, no keeping them in without turning it back on. Mare got out, didn't know how, put her back in, went to walk the fence, pretty soon she was behind me ... out. Put her back, watched her walk right to the low wire, walk over it, out again. Haha, turned on electric, put her back in, she walked to the same spot, stopped 3' away, nosed toward the fence, walked away. I have no idea how they do it, but they can "smell" or maybe they can hear that fence, but she sure knew it was on. Good thing is no where for them to go better than in my yard, so they always stay home if they do get out, and grain always intrigues them to follow back into the barn.
