Pump problems or something else?

Well, the darn pump has died....it's most definitely dead as a door knob ! I need a 2000 GPH for the Sand & Gravel filter, so bought my first Laguna, it's supposed to arrive on Sat.

In the mean time I'm performing water changes, running a smaller pump to recirculate water and agitate the surface. My waterfall and aerator are both still running, just not the pump feeding the filter :(

I'm not feeding them till I get the filter back online, it's hard when they look at me with their sweet fishy eyes !

I threw in a bunch of duckweed yesterday for my poor starving little beggars. Figured the veggie stuff was a less poop maker perhaps? Today it is almost all gone! My pond is right by the front door so you can picture that in your mind. Gaping little mouths all of them squished to the edge close to me in a huge hog pile like they are starving to death o_O
Makes me feel so guilty :(
