They leaked on salt water, so I put them in storage but since I put 1 on the pond, without replacing the seal, no leaks. Go figure.

I just checked the Laguna pumps, do they sell anything over 1500GPH? Their skimmer pump is rated at 1500GPH, I'm thinking I need a little more than that for a bog/waterfall?

Man I missed a few of those posts above, y'all were all commenting at once. Thanks for some of those I didn't catch earlier. I may just go submersible though, seems much easier and I'm working with a limited footprint to hide equipment.

Depends on how much room you have in your skimmer I guess.
Would one of their bigger pumps fit in your skimmer?

I'm not sure, I have not settled on a skimmer yet so not sure my exact dimensions that I can fit. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say their max-flo pumps won't fit, but I guess it's not impossible. Their direct drive pumps might fit, but their power consumption is out of this world so not sure I'd go that route if it did fit.

That's why I'm using the dart. I have a dedicated skimmer pump, but it uses something like 900 watts which is ridiculous.

You can put the pump above or below water level put a check valve in the skimmer then if you lose prime all you have to due is fill the line between the pump and the pond

So nobody knows if an external pump goes above or below grade? Odd.
Sorry didn't see this, my pond, bog everything is on a slope, my pump in on the down slope side of the pond, between the bog and pond. With it being there the pump is slightly above level with the water of the pond. It is a self priming pump, just makes it easier to prime when the power goes off. I do not have a check valve on the pumps input line

I guess external pumps are not as popular as I thought?
I like my external, others like their submersibles. Way back when I bought the one I have, if I recall right, it used less electricity to push more water than a similar submersible. Notice the if I recall right, it has been 12 years since I bought it if not more. I did a lot of research at the time as to what was best.

Just put a check valve in the skimmer you don't have to glue it then if you have to you can pore water in the pump and it will fill it up a bang pump will start back up saves time make sure it's a swing valve not a spring check valve

Sounds like you bought an excellent pump then!
