The little fat fantail goldfish in the pic loves the balls and pushes them around .Problem is you can't see him because of the size of the ball ,scared me one day when he did it and the ball started to move and there was no fish around it I thought

Wonder if there is a way to put food in some kind of a ball and when the fish learn to push it around they would get a treat to fall out? Maybe you could have and inner ball made of Styrofoam and then something in between that and a plastic outside ball. Somehow put food in between the two that falls out when they push it. Get my drift or am I going to far on this one? They'd sure go after it then no matter if koi or goldies cuz they are both food hogs :goldfish:

Ok got a little white ball w/ holes in it, floats somewhat, and squeezed some food pellets in it and watched. They appear to know the food is in there and want to get at it. I suppose if i did this enough they would go to the ball to check for food regularly. Now whether they will play w/ the balls that I put in there w/o food is still to be determined.

j,w.; just a thought... when the food gets wet it expands (or at least mine does), so the fish wouldn't be able to get it out until it starts to go all mushy. Not saying that's bad, mind you, just wondering. John

Yep I just put a couple pellets in there just to see what they would do. I'm not going to make this a regular thing w/ them as you are right they might not get it outta there although they seem to have pretty strong sucking mouths. I'll check this morning to see if any is left in the ball.
