I have over wintered my koi and shubukin (spelling is crap) for 10 years never had a problem, I live in Canada gets to -30 C for a couple weeks here, as long as you have a deicer or two depending on the size of your pond and I keep my waterfalls going all winter, as long as you stopped feeding them in the late fall they should be fine
