My pumps are from harbor freight and love them they work great for years and thats where she got hers from and she has the venturi on hers also .I bought one before she bought the same one and it was only 22 dollars and works great Her pond is round so I could not really see any stagnant areas and with her aerator there should not be .That thing she got is to big for her pond actually .She has large silicone air stones on it .There are 4 outlets one going to the filter the other 3 in the pond and she has one of those big rubbermade stock tanks from tractor supply .I did just the week before add lava rock to her filter box and we only added back 2 filters and the plastic grate to hold her plants .I'm confused by it all could have been the combo of lava rock and powerhead

All of the powerheads we've ever used on aquariums had a venturi built into the output... if you push an air tubing into the hole in the top of the output, it will suck in air through the tubing. The only issue we've had with them is they don't have a lot of 'sucking' power... If the intake filter gets clogged up, the output drops off quickly. Otherwise, they have been very reliable for years of use.

Well I looked around the net a little bit and it seems a lot of the Powerhead manufacturers are selling them as aqauarium/pond powerheads so I guess they must be okay. I guess if you have a good filter setup so you arent suck debris into the pump, it really doesnt matter what you use.

I think one of the normal shaped powerheads would be alot easier to deal with than that koralia 1050, I've never seen a powerhead like that before.

^ that is, whta looks like, an undergravel filter, meant for tanks. they suck water through a tube that connects to a grid underneath the gravel, which pulls water through the gravel, and keeps the gravel clean. i had one that looked exactly like that in my tropical tank

The grid underneath is what is called an under gravel filter, and a powerhead is what you would use to run it.
