The biggest benefit of floating food is they can find it. Some people have rocks, debries and other impediments in the bottom which serves to hide food and promote a septic condition. Food that goes down adds to this and is not easily found by the Koi.

Feeding floating pellets allows you see the koi upclose and spot any problems. Also, if you want to feed your koi any type of treat such as oranges, cheerios or watermelon they all float.

I agree, racoons can get quite creative when they are hungry. So far, I haven't had a racoon in my yard since I had the 6' vynal fence installed all the way around my back yard two years ago.

I agree with both Dr Dave and Koi Guy, sooner or later something will probably get to my fish. In the mean time, I wll enjoy watching them when I'm home.

Here in the city of Tacoma, if I were to fire off a round desposing of a critter, I would have a swat team in my yard.

no matter where you live there is probably something there that enjoys a fish for lunch, dinner or a snack!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. But still, I'm lucky here as I don't need to contend much about predators except for visiting young people. Again lucky for me, a stern warning is all it takes to hold them back from making it hell for the fishes.
