The alternative to that would be unemployment and plenty of time and no money coming in so just take it as it comes Bullfrog. Work when ya can and hope you get some rainless days off to do it all in.

Well I got the last two uprights dug and cemented Thursday then decked out what was up. Waiting for the cement to cure, I put together my new BBQ pit and it is just too easy. You turn on a burner, push the igniter and poof.. flames. I grilled some hot links and two hot dogs, popped out the new folding chair work gave us with a beer holder and life was good. But before that I needed firewood so I can make a real smoked brisket this Sunday.

I drove to Fred, Texas which is one store and a lot of cows. The store had a sign up about firewood for $175.00 a cord so I called. I heard, "Please enjoy this Verizon ringtone while your customer is reached."....

"Well I'm stuck in Folsom Prison.. and time keeps draggin on..." not the best ringtone. A guy answered and gave me directions saying he would meet me on the road. I turned at the radio tower and the black top turned to limestone, then dirt. Up ahead was a guy wearing all camouflage on a four wheeler waiting. He waved and I followed. He had a five gallon but attached to the back with screw drivers and other things all tied on. He turned into a dirt driveway with a big hole in it. He emptied his beer cans in it so when we drove in we crushed the cans for him, passed the pile of old tires to a lot of neatly stacked wood. He turned out to be a nice guy who just works making ends meet. He trims trees, collects scrap iron and splits wood by hand... all for cash. He delivered and stacked 3/4 cord of red oak and 1/4 cord of hickory. I'll add more pictures of the porch Monday.

Good for you getting the fire wood. We have to work to get ours...........too cheap to buy it. Just bought a splitter tho so makes it go a lot faster. Wood is starting to get harder and harder to come by here for free. Someday we might have to pay to have a load of logs delivered to our property and do the rest ourselves. Ha ha that ring tone fits the bill tho, waiting, waiting, waiting!

Put up some more pix when you can Bullfrog of the porch project and the growing puppies!

We have a wood burning stove in the basement, don't really use it. We installed a vent-less propane stove in the living room, that works fantastic, warms us right up without the mess of ashes. So far this year we have used two bbque tanks of propane. (Honey keeps saying we are going to get a large tank..........lol)

We are trying to keep the puppies contained in an old reptile enclosure turned on it's side. They will get their first set of shots today and then they can finally go outside. I have a horse stall I'm going to close in with chicken wire so no hawks get them. Vixxen turned out to be a bad momma and quit feeding them two weeks ago because they feed so aggressively and are so big but Vicki took over. They do love spilling dog food and love their momma..

Vicki looks like she's in Heaven w/ all those babies! Is that the littlest one she's holding? Soon she will have to start parting w/ them and I bet it will be sad for her. Hope they find good homes.

Yes JW, she loves the runt but the runt is growing fast and harder to pick out. In a drunken moment of revelry I told Juan he could have one. He came by last night and got pretty mad when I told him that I had changed my mind. He doesn't have a fenced in yard and none of these pups are going into a pen or on a chain. He pretty much dug his own grave a few weeks ago when he told us he was so hungry he took an armadillo away from a pit bull just to eat. He can't feed himself, let alone feed and care for a dog.

OK. Decking is done and rafters are up. I'll post more pictures Sunday or Monday. I'll pick up the cross braces for the roof and the roofing Sunday. I jumped forward and assembled the BBQ pit, my wife loves it. The smoked chickens turn out great, I still need to learn to regulate the heat for brisket though, it got too hot. And yes Eagle eye JW... that is a Miller Lite can on the rail...

As soon as the rails and steps are done I'll start with the wiring and plumbing. The refrigerator has an ice maker which we want and a sink needs to be there also for when I cook. The wiring will be done with an eye toward the pond as I almost have it solidified in my mind, i never draw blueprints, I just imagine it and go. I'm planning a two foot deep elevated pond with a sitting area around it and a waterfall. The view from the porch will be nice as it will be right there.

Somehow missed that post above this one Bullfrog about giving Juan the pup. Glad you discovered he shouldn't have one due to his circumstances!

That' one heck of a BBQ and your porch is coming along quite nicely! Yum, chicken is one of my fave's to eat! Your whole plan sounds neat w/ the waterfall and pond right there close...............you will really be in Heaven..............getting better and better as you go! Is it Miller time, lol?

I had one, beautiful male, he hated my late husband, loved me. Finally had to give him away, hub was afraid of the dog. He actually hated all men, the women I got him from finally told me she trained the dog to be a male hater.
