Love your POP-UP :goldfish: of color tent Colleen. Good price also. We have a gazebo structure we put up every Spring and take down every Fall, on the deck. It sure helps keep the sun from bouncing into the kitchen patio doors and on NORMAL Summer days, it is neat to sit out on the deck and enjoy the pond. This Summer, of course was quite different w the super hot, triple digit days. This past weekend was the first weekend since the beginning of Summer where we actually enjoyed sitting out. Enjoy your pup-up :)

Thanks Shoestring, I just love it, it's like a outdoor living room, got everything all nice and waiting for my sweet pea to come home and enjoy it with me. Going to bed, got to work in the early morning, going to snuggle my cute little Poppy.... zzzzzzz. :)

Tonight it's going to get down to 40 degrees, could feel the chill in the air all day today, this time of the year the nights can start to chill off quick now. Supposed to warm back up on the weekend, but September is now just round the corner and the end of summer is now in sight. Kinda sad in a way, but then Halloween is another chance to play outside with my stuff.

The Hornwort grew very good in the bottom pond this summer, going to let it sink naturally to the bottom this winter, as I always do. It will go dormant and look like guck at the bottom of the pond, and one may be tempted to chuck it all out, but leave it alone and it will grow back into a wonderful bush next year again. I like how the fish swim in and out of the long flowing strings that grow so nice beneath the surface of the water. It grows quite well now in the two top level Koi Ponds, going to give some away to my friend that owns a local pet store, he gives me good deals so why not.

Sissy there not mad, they see me coming and swim full speed ahead to greet me, there doing there usual rush to be first to get some puppy chow routine! You should see how much dog food they gobble up! I threw away the little pellets of "fish food" cause now that they are spoiled with the yummy puppy chow, the other stuff just floated forever and no one wanted to eat it! I was tired of fishing it out and throwing it away! Good grief! Fussy fish or what?

Oh ya, just a quick note, Hornwort has been declared a noxious weed in some places in Canada, so don't flush down the toilet or dump in rivers or streams, grows really good in streams, would work good for people with a stream, flowing and cleaning... hey anyone out there other than me growing hornwort???

I tried and it didn't live, think the fish inhaled it.

In the early spring the smaller fish at the bottom pond will eat most of it sometimes, but then the weather turns hot and it starts to grow like a rocket, growing faster than what they can eat, THEN I throw some to the larger fish and it grows nice then too. Trick is to start some in a place where the fish can't get at it till it starts good.

I have both Hornwort and Anacharis in my pond and it grows considerably. Occasionally I will see lots of it floating near the center of the pond and early this summer, our BullFrog could be found floating amongst it. You almost think it is dieing but pull a bit up and it is a nice deep green and healthy. My only concern, with the amount of it that is in the pond, doe it use oxygen during the night and rob the fish of it? On the flip side, it gives off oxygen during the day, correct? Today I have to remove more water lettuce from the pond. I hope it is not causing the submerged plants to die due to the heavy coverage of the surface. I will say though, the water lettuce has kept the temps in the pond down during the triple digit temps for weeks at a time a few weeks ago. When we were 109* it kept the water temps. no higher than @ 86*. Since cooler out, the H2O temps are now in the 70's.
