Got this email back from Webb's and they say:

Hello Janice

All MaxFlo pumps are made in Italy. The models with the yellow emblem are the new version of this pump.

Please let me know if you need anything further.

No, no,no, Sissy. The Power-Jet and MaxFlo pumps are made in Italy, even the new yellow-accented ones. The Chinese pumps have names like 'Statuary Pump', 'Fountain Pump', and maybe one or two more. The MaxFlo is your basic pump only, while the Power-Jets come with a diverter valve and fountain kit, and have smaller openings in the 'cage' to prevent the fountain clogging.

Then that must be what they were talking about .Glad that is cleared up .He did tell me the new pumps use less wattage but he did say that I should compare pump power for the same distance ,I looked closely and they were right .The new ones use called the next generation ones 2900 gph use 112 watts but pump less water .I had told them the size and distance to my filters and they guided me to the one I needed since I still wanted to use 2 pumps .They had originally suggested the 4200 gph .The next generation ones also cost more money .I read 1 other pump that said some thing about wattage and head power.Seems the pumps that use the most energy have the most pumping power

opening now that I found measuring tape on larger adapter is 1 1/2 inch .pump turtle is smaller than my Harbor freight one ,about 11 inches round and hf one is 15 inches round.I do not like the fact that the screws holding the turtle case closed are plastic .They will break I am sure .4 plastic screws

Thanks for all the good info sissy and looks like the one you bought pumps a good amount of water. I have a waterfall that mine would run to and so the pump would sit down in 3&1/2' of water and then waterfall height is about 3' tall to the top so total of 6&1/2' to pump up to. My pond holds about 2400 gals. Wonder if it would be wise for me to buy the 4200 gph pump and does it make a difference if the pump hose that is attached to that new filter thing I got is quite long at about 15' or longer. I just have that hose laying around on the bottom that long in case I want to move the filter around to a different area and also can lift it out and clean it w/o having to get in there and take it off the pump.
Good to know all the max flo ones are from Italy. Thanks Haro!
