what kind of pump how many gph and how many watts of power and are you happy with it and filters how many have built there own and how many times have you change the filter design or built a bigger filter or just tried something new .I get confused by all the pumps they may have the same gph use less or more watts and have less head .Warranty 's and prices are every where .I think they want to just confuse new and old ponders .Why is there also not a rating system for pumps .I have contacted consumer affairs but they say it is because there seems to be no interest in them from consumers .They did do a few a couple of years ago as a test but interest did not pan out for them to add it .

I have one of the smartpond pumps from a couple of years ago it works ok less wattage but had to take it over to the other house to put it in that pond .I saw on you tube one of the pond builders did a bog filter with gravel for a patio pond and planted it with plants

Ceramic shafts wear more slowly than SS, but are rather brittle. Not a big deal, unless you drop a pump on the ground.

would cold water effect them more since I leave my pond running all winter .I have stainless steel now but wonder because ceramic just seems to me it would get brittle because of heat from it running and the cold from the cold water .I don't know if I have ever had one with ceramic shaft

The ceramic shaft wouldn't be a problem unless your pump freezes, but in that case the pump would probably be toast anyway!

I am going to try the laguna pump one more time but remembered to tell them I do not want the china made one ,like you said .I got the 2900 gph and uses 130 watts .I still have the one that does not work right.I figured for a second pump with that low wattage would work and it has a 4 year warranty

well today checked the harbor freight pump again on watt tester and so far still using 170 watts out of the 175 it is supposed to use and pumping enough to fill both filters and extra for the top of the pond .I am using the same splitter as I used on my old HF one so all is good 2150gph

also meant to say the reason they are selling the older laguna ones on ebay is because the new stock is in and they are located in Maryland and only charge tax for people who live there ,doesn't seem fair but you can't change that.By the way I was buyer 8 and seen there was 9th buyer this morning

Hard to see in your photo as it is so small. If you click on the option to load the bigger file next to the small ones your photos will show bigger.

Never mind I just clicked on yours and it went big lol! I have this add on where you are supposed to be able to float your mouse arrow over and make it big. Guess it only works on certain types of photos.
