nope not barley I saw a package and it looks like brown and white stuff .I also saw them sold on northern tool .com .Every farm pond I see here seems to have them floating around . Very course stuff what ever it is and packet is somewhat heavy .Marty next door to me has them in his big farm pond .I asked him about it but he said he never looked to see what was in them ,he just knows they wqork .I would think something biological of sorts.I just happen to be going for a walk and saw him pulling the ball in to put a new packet in .Packet is just printed with company logo but says nothing else on it except for directions and when to replace .I did ask him but Marty is a funny type person ,one time he talks to you and the next time does not even acknowledge you .I don't really think he likes out of staters .He blames all the northerners for what is happening in VA ,we bring bad ideas here i guess .Shame on us snow birds . :bye2:

yeah he basically wants the falls for ornamental purposes i started on it the other day and he wanted it pretty lrg he had a 4000 gallon sump pump we hooked to it just to get an idea of how much flow we would have and its just not enough i think if he gets something in the 6000-8000 range he will be happy the windmill idea sounds good maybe later on down the rd like next spring my uncle is older and on a limited income so gotta do one thing at a time thanks everyone for the fantastic ideas

Think Cleveland is about 40 minutes from Medina, where they have a location of Jones Fish hatchery. Here in the Cincinnati area, they do large ponds and lake management. Check out their website to see if their pumps might work for what you want. Their aeration systems are quite pricey.

Are these biospheres you're discussing the same thing as Pond Zingers or logs? If so, I haven't tried them yet, but have heard good reviews .

If a 4000g sump pump isn't enough, then get two. Have the inlet of both of them in different places and you'll get better circulation than one pump!

Well, he's got to pick one or the other, what does he want, a big waterfall and a big bill or a small waterfall and a small bill?

Sequence external pump are about the most efficient pumps I have ever found. http://www.mdminc.com/SequenceTitan.aspx
The 12000 SEQ21 pumps 12,500 gph at 845 watts. I don't think you'll find anything better than that.
It ain't cheap, but it ain't cheap pumping that much water either. Get an inefficient pump and you'll end up spending a lot more in the long run.

remember look at energy costs as he does not want to open his electric bill and get the shock of his life .Ithink that is the main reason most ponds get shut down .I checked the new pump I got and says 85 watts used but so far on watt tester I am getting 60 watts used .Maybe because i have it fully open, not sure

Pumping 1000 gph 24/7 is going to cost you at around $60 a month give or take, probably give if you don't get an efficient pump and the cost of electricity in your area. Is your dad willing to spend that much a month? If not, he might as well scrap the idea right now.

Windmill could work, but you'd need a huge one to pump anything near 1000 gph, and I'm sure it would cost you a fair penny to set up, also when the wind don't blow, the pump don't pump. It's that simple.
