Oh, my oh my, Turtle Mommy! That would be the most awesome present anyone could get for me, too! Congrats, and happy belated birthday. Now, go arrange those rocks!

Rocks in the City. When they broke ground for a new condo up the street I just had to have this rock! It took about an hour to get it on the dolly and another hour (at least) to bring it home. It came from further than the buildings in the distance.

WE DO LOVE OUR ROCKS, DON'T WE! I go for long walks most days and often come home carrying one in each hand. The ones at my pond are just around the edges and behind the pond next to the porch tho. I'd love to have more but I planted lots of plants and shrubs around mine.

Thank you evdfyone for responding. If anyone else has pictures of their landscaped pond, please post. I love mixing ideas. I'm a visual person. We are now thinking about both rocks and mulch. I ws thinking the rocks woukd have been a little less upkeep but guess I was wrong. Part of the area at the bottom of the pond is where water runs off so we think we will stay with rocks there for drainage and we will line the pknd with rocks with mulch because I do want to plant flowers. So any more pics would be appreciated so I can get ideas.

I love rocks, but unfortunately, not many to be found on this sand bar... I try hard not to buy them... Was pretty excited that some of the storm damages included removing stumps... hubby scored some nice rocks last week:)

Mixing medias around a pond can lend so many interesting focal points. I'll post some pics of our pond that has rocks and mulch both, but if you can post some pics of the area you are working with, with your thoughts so far, people can throw you even more ideas:)

Tee, rocks and mulch are very nice and complement each other. You could plant one or two plants the come back each year that do good in wet areas such as bog plants and the rocks and mulch will help keep the weeds down too.

I do all colors and textures in my garden and I have lots different elements that I use, everything from large rocks to small rocks to different color mulch. The ground is my "canvas" and my "art tools" are rocks and wood and mulch. Like a artist, I then "sculpt" the land into something wonderful!

Love how you have so many different things going on Colleen... I found gravel this year in the brown tones, after we had all the mulch in... next year, two of the beds will get the gravel we put into the bog just so it is easier... if you look at the pic above where the green thread leaf maple is, and the garden hose... gonna swap those two spots out for gravel, just cuz it is hard to get to... here's a good pic with the gravel I want to use (it's in the bog now, but need more)

I love mulch! Every year you just add a bit more and it’s great for keeping weeds out.
This is what we did with our bolder, and you can see where we got rid of the grass in the back and put down mulch.

Tee, I was at a Garden Show in Chicago, IL last year this time (it will be in a week or two again) and they were selling the drilled hole rocks (not as big as EH's mind you ...) and the pump and line and so forth for the disappearing bubbler! They were only $30 or something, could not believe how cheap they were! They sold them all included in a 5 gallon bucket, that had everything you needed, just dig a hole, bury the bucket, put the cone into the bucket for the water to drain back into, rock on top of the slotted lid of the bucket and fill the bucket with water. Amazing what people will invent! Those things were selling like hot cakes!
I, too, love to visualize possibilities of landscaping with ponds and rocks and mulch from other's pictures. Loved viewing them all. Thanks everyone.
