burr, they are saying we are in for one of the worse winters in decades here, snow levels, temps etc.

Get ready for it? It sounds like you're already IN it. And of course you're bug free, even they know it's too darn cold up there... LOL
Yeah the bugs all head south! Darn yellow jackets coming back in swarms, they love are falling apples. We managed to be free of them until now.

I've got a tiny nest in my greenhouse but they aren't bothering me so they get to stay for now. They'll be gone soon and I try not to let them build nests but I missed this one and they have children growing so can't wreck the nest :)

The paper nest wasps I leave alone, the ground dwelling yellow jackets.............gone. I am having issues with them and one of the bee hives now. They are trying to attack the hive, so have had to hang a wasp trap.

Oh heck no addy stop those suckers before they get your bees!!!

I plugged the upper bee escape hole, duct taped an edge of the telescoping top. Hung one of those yj traps, now see the yj's in the trap, not attacking the hive in the numbers they were. They smell the 2/1 bee crack we are feeding, makes them come running..............well flying
