I'll buy liner if the dig tess doesn't find anything within the dig area. If digging isn't possible due to underground stuff I won't be buying the liner.

Here's an idea for a natural looking pond we did here in Rochester NY FountainMan. This pond was already 20 years old and we updated the filtration and gave it a new liner.

Mine is half raised one side and both ends had to be raised because of the ground and my septic tank is there .The wishing well covers up the clean out for it .I call the pond my tropical country pond /it fits since I have cows and horses for neighbors

Dig Tess came out today and all is clear. :) In December I'm going to begin construction. By then cooler wetter weather will make for softer soil to work with. Cooler weather also better for me.

Pond will be about 20×20'. This time shootingat 2.5' depth.

Sometime I'm going to get the Kasco fountain home. :)

Spray paint marks the future pond. The white circle represents the fountain. The existing pond in the background. The block retention wall will be removed.

Thinking about taking the old liner and making a stream from the patio to the pond.

The dirt I dig out will be piled at the other end of the yard to make a small hill. That will become another flower bed with tree.

The hill will also function to manage runoff making the pond a retention pond.

Since the plants will be dormant for the winter they should be good to transplant.

Good thinking to get the dig test. Wish we had your December weather here in Rochester NY. Keep us posted on your project with photos. 20x20 sounds like a good size pond!

My dad is on board with me. Looking forward to getting started. Lot of stuff to do. Trying to come up with a game plan. Either start at the existing pond and work outward or begin on the outside in.

I'm inclined to outside in. Will be easier to work around the tree.

Bringing the fountain home next week.

Trying to come up with the money to fund liner. Does anyone know if liners typically go on sale in December? When is the best time to buy?

Now I am a newbie to koi ponds, But, when I built my pond the liner prices threw me into sticker shock. My pond is 22x11. I bought 2 liners and fused them together with a non toxic adhesive. It was alot cheaper that way! I'm not sure that the pros would recommend this, but so far I haven't had an issue with it.

Just keep a watchful eye open for potential leaks. Most people won't even attempt a major fusing -- you are a brave girl!!!!

And yes, I totally agree about the sticker shock -- same with us. I was almost afraid to tell my husband what a liner would cost.
