Have to agree with Fishin. When I pulled mine out last year from the pool of water my waterfall goes into, it took everything I had to pull those suckers out. I just set them in the water with a small rock wedged against them but their roots grew up under the waterfall rocks. You can pull them out it just may take some time to do. I would however thin them out on a frequent basis to keep them from taking over and becoming a real problem for you.

I planted two clumps on bare parts of my plant shelves, using some 4-6" rocks to hold them in place. They were new clippings, so didn't have much time to spread, but they did grow well until the first hard freeze. Since my fish love eating plant roots, I'm hoping this location will expose any roots that try to grow out next Summer, and the fish will keep the plants somewhat in check. If nothing else, it should be pretty obvious if I need to do some cutting back before they get too wild...

I tried to plant them in between my rocks around the edge of my pond after I decided I didn't like them in the pots and they grew so many roots and got so big that they shoved some of the big rocks right over the edge and down into the pond. They are definitely the Hercules of the pond plants!
