Here will come a series of photos of the waterfall construction. Next week the landscaper is going to bring a bunch of plants and then we'll plant it.

There were 3 truck and trailer loads of boulders! Massive. And untold numbers of loads of dirt.

Waterfall is running. The owner came down last week on Friday and checked everything out. He's bringing a crew down next week to reinforce the back of the filter falls to prevent it settling. Otherwise, all's well. No leaks, cool water sounds and a nice looking waterfall even without plants. Nice work re naturalizing the wall too. Looks really nice even without plants.

While they did the waterfall and wall I finished the deck. or nearly finished. the stairs will eventually be stone. I haven't decided whether to cut off the front post or put a lamp on it. cut off it'd look clean and i'm leaning that way.

Ah, so you changed the overall look of the pond! You ended up covering up your block with dirt. What made you decide to do that after all this time? Was it because you had to build up all the boulders for the waterfall?

What's the deal with being able to see the filter falls at the very top, how will that be hidden?

Wow! What a transformation!
When the landscaper gets done with planting and a little time goes by, this is going to look very natural.
When I first saw your expansion project, I had my doubts, especially with that block wall, but not anymore.

Hi Koikeeper,

recall that we wrestled with the choice between leaving the block wall and doing a waterfall in a similar material for a totally formal or artistic look vs. striving for a return to a natural look. We decided to go natural since that is what Deb and I really prefer and IF we ever decide to sell a natural look would please a larger audience, we think.

In order to accomplish the height needed for the waterfall drops and a bit of a stream it was necessary to put the box way up. with the proximity to the fence it wasn't possible to build up enough dirt to hide it completely. The plan is to use plantings to finally completely hide it. That will include a plant or two on top of the rock grate of a kind that spreads and drapes.

right now it's raining cats and dogs. typical. we get a week or so of sun in the early spring and then get drowned again. we'll try to plant in a week or so IF we get a dry period

thanks Dr. Dave and Stouty109. I agree. With the plantings it will look almost completely different than it does now. Without the plants it looks a little barren / stark, but the plants will be a knockout, I'm thinking.
