It is very pretty but what is it's natural enemy as it stated in the last article I wonder? (From experience we know that in time the problem of such an introduced species becomes less serious, by development of natural enemies, competition and other, unknown factors.) It said it can become a problem at times and run a muck

I don't worry about such things JW, I just like the way it grows. They say the same sorts of things about water hyacinth, but they are still my favorite water garden plant and, unlike this water net algae, I deliberately try to grow hyacinth even if they can really become too prolific at times. When it comes to invasive types of plants it's good to recognize that they can get out of hand if neglected, but I have yet to grow anything yet that I wasn't able to control with a little bit of diligence and elbow grease. I think when people start having problems with plants "running a muck" it's usually their own fault, not the plant. Neglect is the key word here I think.
Besides I'm not trying to grow this water net algae, I'm just curious. I enjoy and encourage all the biodiversity of life in my pond, the more the better is the way I see it. Guess that's why I don't have much interest in formal koi ponds, they just seem too sterile to me.

I agree mucky love all the stuff that has comes with the pond. Even the string that is in the stream ponds, the tads, snails love it! I have had to yank mint, it sure does take off. A little yanking and it is under control, love the smell, it does have nice flowers. but you do need to yank now and then. The day lilies in the bog get decreased next year, moving some out into the yard, they are loving the bog tooooooooooooo much lol.
