the bog is going to be the top of my little waterfall. I tried placing the liner over the edge and into the box but it leaked. Tried to seal the edges but it leaked. Tried sealing under the liner and up the sides, it leaked. I am about ready to toss the box get a small liner, rebuild the waterfall and build a waterfall weir out of the new liner. But I would like to use the bog filter I made.

Would you bring the liner up under the lip of the container and secure it in place with silicone?

Thinking here nova.............lol

The main thing you need is a non leaking connection between the two. If you cut down the side, where you want your water fall you could put in a piece of liner, with a lot of the pl roofing sealant or some kind of sealant secure the liner to the inside of the bog, then have the liner go into the pond.

You could, with cutting the edge, folding it down a little, put the liner below the lip, secure it well with sealant. Use sealant to make the water path correctly out of the bog. I use sealant with some rocks when I am attempting to path the water the way I want it to go. Make sure your liner is cupped a little center lower than edges so the water flows down it not over the edges.

If you have any liner tape that would also help you attach the liner to the bog. If you secure the liner on the inside of the bog you want the edge to have no way for the water to flow under it, i.e. well sealed, smooth edge in the bog

Hope that makes sense.

roofing sealant...had not thought of that, I have foam but that did not hold well enough. I guess I am going out to Lowe's after dinner. I don't know where I can get liner tape locally.

Thanks Addy.

the foam does not seal, it seeps water. Put the roofing sealant on thick, let it dry, run your water, if you have a leak turn off water add some more. It does work when a little wet, but i always try to make sure it is dry, when trying to seal something.

Wear plastic gloves that black stuff is a pita to get off.
Urethane works great too.

also when this stuff sets up do not go pulling on it too hard it will hold great untill you put a strain on it then it starts to peel off, you might try sanding the pieces to give the sealant a rough surface to grab onto i did this and it seemed to hold a lot better just a light sandpaper will work.

some suggest acetone rub before using the adhesive.
