@addy1 - the parrots feather you sent me last year is coming back! That must be a hardier variety than what we've been able to buy here in the past. We've never been able to get it to overwinter in the pond! It's just tiny sprouts right now, but a welcome sign for sure!

Yeah! The parrots feather in the hot tub pond is growing back great! The stuff down in the ponds is coming back. The hot tub tends to be warmer. This is the fussy red stem also

Nice! I live Parrot's Feather! My marsh Marigold is looking big and green! I highly reccomend Marsh Marigold. It comes back bigger every year, surviving the harsh PA zone 6b climate. I have a few other things peaking out too. Ah, I love Springtime!

I have tried marsh marigold for years, it never survives for me. I had a few nice ones going and poof gone, even bought seeds to try and get some seedlings growing.

My parrots feather from @addy1 made it through the winter too!! I pulled some from the pond and put it in a bucket, to keep the koi from eating it all ! I'd love to put some in a floating net, but can't chance the koi getting stuck in the nets again.

I've had both kinds of parrots feather but ended up removing the 'regular' stuff & just keeping the red stem. Honestly, it's a bit of a thug in my pond! I cut it back HARD several times every summer, throw away buckets full of the stuff, and it just keeps on going. Never worry one bit about it overwintering - I'm pretty sure I couldn't kill it if I tried. lol I do really like it, though, and so do the frogs (it makes a nice perch & hiding place)

Yup. Much easier to control than plants that run. And run. And RUN! lol! My lizard tail & I are having a bit of a stand off right now. :sneaky:

I've never dealt with creeping buttercup, but I've had more than my fair share of plants that caused me to lose sleep and/or suffer nightmares. Gotta love those pond plants - they certainly are vigorous!

Stay away from water mint! it goes everywhere. It is easy to yank from the bog though and our bees love it.

I'd bet its mainly due to the very mild winter. I believe just about every zone stepped up a number this past winter.

In my stagnant bog as I call it no water pumped below just leaches across the surface. I planted a marigold the first year and to my amazement it is poping up now it didn't show its self last year. And golden club I though did horribly last year at least the shoots were pretty sad. well this year there buds poking out all over the place.

I have not seen any Parrott feather around here in BC. I will see if I can order online this year.
