i have one of the smaller barrels in my dads garage would it be too small?
I'm not sure might be slightly smaller than 30. I'll

a 30 gal drum should be more than enough for that little pond...what is that thing 200 gals?
I think the drum is about 30g if it won't do the job I can go and get a bigger one, tbh I'm not sure on the size of the pond it's 4'x4.5x1.8 at the deepest point with 2 12" shelves

30 gallon shoud be fine. Do you have an idea on how you are going to construct it?

The plan was just one barrel hidden in behind the laurel bush the the back left of the pond. I'm more and more tempted to try a little stream or waterfall for the return flow.

That is very doable. All you need is a piece of rubber liner. That will help to oxygenate the water as well.
now ive just heard that laurels may be poisonous what do you guys reckon?

i got a nice little filter today with a uv built in, i dont have the uv running yet as i only have one power point yet.
If you have two barrels, they should be tied in together in parallel versus into one another as you have done.
