Orfe jump out of the pond. But why?

Orfes are sensitive to less than ideal water conditions. They are even used in some ponds as an indicator of possible problems with water quality, like canaries were once used in mines as a warning signal to poor air quality.

Testing the water is the first thing I would do.

Mine also never jump unless they are trying to grab bugs and that is not that often.
