do you happen to have any pictures of one under construction or even a step-by-step diagram?

Imagine a hole, any shape any size, bigger is better. Depth 18 inches to deeper. Mine is around 25% or more surface area of the pond.

Place pvc pipes on the bottom, 2 inches is best, make holes or cuts into them. Mine run the length of the bog, two pipes 26 feet long.

Cover with pea gravel, I used 38000 lbs, but mine is huge! Plant, sit back and enjoy your pond.

Mine is also 2.5 feet deep, sort of just kept digging. Draw your water from mid depth or lower just not off the bottom. That way you don't draw in a lot of debris that can clog the gravel.

How deep is the rest of your pond? I was thinking 3 feet for the pond and 18 inches for the bog. We started digging today (sore doesn’t quite cover it!) and our initial small 10x8 pond is now 16x12.

My hubby bought me a tractor for our first wedding anniversary. Our land is nothing but layers of shale. I went crazy digging! Also had to build a dirt berm to make a level spot for the pond.

My pond ended up being 5.5 feet deep, the bog around 2.5 feet deep. I made it deep for the winters here. The bog is deeper than it needs to be, but it sure takes good care of the pond.

The pond and bog are both 27 feet long.
