pine needles
I'll save you all the nightmare stories I have from pines , eastern white pines that is. And not one has to do with a pond. Living room table, cars, home , even a horse stable, and a bridge

I believe man, they’re literally the worst. It’s one of the last trees I need to remove from the backyard. Leaves I have no issues with because the net catches them, but these pine needles are brutal.

First tree that came down here when I bought this place twenty years ago.

I Rebuilt one of bog walls yesterday. It was low at two spots and water was wicking through the liner folds. I also removed the mulch in that middle area between the bog and pond as the water that was leaking out the bog was running through the mulch and coming back into the pond causing an algae bloom. I raised and reinforced the wall, added stone instead of mulch, and naturalized it a bit by adding some logs from a tree I cut down in the backyard. I’m happy with the result.

I also placed my spring order of bog plants and am excited for them to arrive and get them planted.

Can anyone identify what these are? They appear to be eggs of some sort. They are up in my bog.

Neighbors sent me this photo today of the top of my house. Looks like I have another predator to worry about other than the owls. The net won’t be coming down anytime soon

what type of owl any idea?
No idea, but it didn’t like landing in a net and getting soaked. I haven’t seen it on camera since. I also picked up an aquascape powerhead to add some more flow to the deep section of my pond like you recommend earlier. Gonna install it tomorrow if I have time after work.

Playitkoi does it again! They shipped my plant order prior to when their plant distributors typically ship for opening season. All plants arrived green and healthy. Quite the feat as the plants shipped out of Springfield, Oregon in a snowstorm over to me in Virginia.
