Thanks Addy~ no worries. One thing that I am trying to visualize is how to do the slant away from the pond, which makes sense. Is this what you all are talking about?

Thanks for this~ It must be me -- cause I can't visualize this still.....sheesh! It looks like the parts outside of the pond are still sloping down into the pond.....? Sorry Addy~ I have a hard time with visualizing on paper! LOL!

lol np, the ledge below water, slope it away from the water towards the pond wall, this tilts the rocks towards the dirt wall, not towards the pond therefore they won't slide into the pond.
The dirt around the pond, slope it away from the pond, again the rocks won't slide into the pond. The water will cover the rocks on the ledge in the pond, they will hide the liner, the rocks around the edge will hide the liner that goes up and out of the pond.

Oh I see! Thanks so much!
Hmmm now I see a problem because I only have one ledge (shelf) around about half the pond....and it is 8" deep. I was thinking the marginal plants went on that according to the videos I watched. So---is there a way to do it without having to re-dig the pond? Perhaps I can shovel the dirt out under the exposed liner remaining on the ground-- and have it slope down away from the perimeter rocks?

You have plenty of liner laying out of the pond. Lift it up, dig down 3 inches or so below the level of your pond water, make it what ever size you want (width) i.e. that would fit what rocks you have and have enough liner to go up and out of the pond. Just make sure the little shelf dug out is slanted back towards the dirt, it helps anchor the rocks so they do not fall into the pond. Do one small section at a time, work around the pond until done. It will give you a great edge look, no liner showing. Once you do that then lay rock dirt, whatever on the liner out on the ground.

Leave your marginal plant shelf alone.
