New to backyard ponds and Koi

Wes Welcome. A lot of us here have learned from our own mistakes. Unfortunately I didn't know about GPF when I first started out ponding and I made a series of mistakes in the beginning. For instance a friend gave me a 12" Koi on the second day that I built my pond and I was surprised when he kept jumping out! Now I would not put 5 Koi into my 2500 gallon pond. I prefer to enjoy the pond and not spend a lot of time on filtration and cleaning so I stick with goldfish. Pet stores sell all these cute little Koi that are reasonably priced but it is unfair to the fish if they are not put in a proper habitat because the chance of their survival will be low.
