New pond questions.

I know you guys and gals said not to feed the fish in the winter.But the water temp is 50 and the air temp is 54 and these fish are hungry.I am feeding them every other day.

If they are active and eating, feed 'em. Mine don't eat as much in cold temps, so I feed less often. When there's ice on the surface, I don't feed at all.

I watch them eat the hornwort constantly. The pond water is sitting at 42. I won't feed them though.

They grab a part of the plant yank and snack.

Weren’t your water temps, like, really low just a few weeks ago?

I am curious about your water temps as well @420benz - I can't remember another ponder ever reporting bigger temperature swings. Of course, I'm here in the midwest so I can't relate totally but we just had three days in a row close to 50 degrees (after several weeks in the 20s) and our water temp hasn't budged. Maybe it's a smaller pond thing?

With only 600 Gal.and 19" deep and air Temps. in the 50"s the water temps. go up and down.
