Well started the dig today on our Koi Pond ..this is our first one ... we got a 25x20 foot liner for $150 and we are going to use a 2 person hot tub for the filter system .. (couldnt tell ya about it ..it is hubbys thing) lol.. I had to move a few more plants then i had planned to ..but it gave us more room ... Our first spring in this house when we bought it 3 yrs ago i planted a Honeysuckle for my humming birds .. well i had to move that and it was not fun .. and were i had to move it to i had to dig up my iris's as they were kinda in the way .. but it is done .. half the grass is out and the other half is cut up and ready to be pulled up and it will be easy to start digging once that is all out of there .. here are a few pics from the start ... tomorow is supposed to be nicer .. i hope .. :) Pond Area.JPGPond Area 2.JPGPond Area 1.JPGHoneysuckle that got moved.JPGs back in .JPGHalf the area skimmed of grass.JPG

great first day start, may I suggest you start a showcase thread, that way you can keep track and refrence back to your build as time goes by, Others can't post on it it's your exclusively, then update from time to time here so others can post and talk to you about your build. You'll enjoy later on when you go back and look at the differences in your yard as the build goes on. Good luck! Happy ponding!

Looking good.

If you have questions about your dig, start a construction thread. Nobody can answer in the showcase thread, but it is a neat way to keep track of your build.

wow on top of that shed i saw moose antlers ,big moose antlers .Great pics and remember plan way ahead for your electric and the trenches if you have to run the lines underground and the more outlets the better and on there own circuit breakers even better and make sure you get GFI .Before i even planned my pond or dug I thought about electric and water source .More is better .

Thanks ya guys ..it was a long day but gonna go at it again today .. tired and sore could barley stay away last night when i was looking at my pics .. almost passed out at the computer .lol.. being tired and pain killers get to ya ...lol..
Sissy those moose antlers are my neighbors .. they been there for a while .she has alot of Deer antlers around .. we live in a small town in a valley and we have town deer that hang around and a couple of really nice bucks .. these guys dont hit the mountains .. they know they are safe ..
in the pic were you can see the moose antlers im actually standing beside the hot tub that we will be using for a filter system .. we didnt drain it last winter and it sprung a leak .. and the heater might be gone on it .. so it is all wired up and we have the outlet on a pole outside ..it will just bea short area to do the pipping for it.. and i also have a wooden wheel house that we are going to use for hiding the pump .. it wont be a functioning water feature allthough it would be neat ..i need to get it pulled out and get some pics of it ..it is really neat .. gonna paint it a barn red like alot of the stuff in the yard .. you can see the barrel planters painted like that .. i have 2 more i have to paint ..

Fishin and Addy Thanks for that info . ill figure out wich way i want to go .. hopefully it wont be to many days ..lol..

well gonna have more coffee and start digging soon .. :goldfish:

If you could get antlers and some type of driftwood near your pond it would make it blend into the surroundings you have .I get wine barrels here for 5 and 10 dollars at the wineries here .They smell great but the fruit flies have to be gotten rid of in the barrels
