I have seen a youtube video of a concoction that you mix up and paint of rocks to grow moss. Might be worth looking into if you want moss.

Yes, I be it is a buttermilk concoction. Great idea but the stone will be in direct sunlight. No chance the moss would live. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Big Lou , what about adding some fake moss to the rock? I've seen some incredibly real looking moss on botanical sites....just a thought

Another great idea. I have not seen any. Must go a goggle.

With the dead moss still on the stone I may employ a bit of careful painting with art brushes. I've already successfully tested on another piece of dead moss on stone. The important thing is to get the perfect hue and fade resistant.
