Since it is a new pond, I would expect algae. I wouldn't worry about having clear water right now. Let the pond cycle. It might be helpful to add an air stone and more plants.

The other dilemma is water quality. Adding the fish also added some of the algae ridden water from the other pond. I added Barley clear and cleaned the filters. Today I removed some of the water and plan to refill later. Anything else that I should do? Besides read the other threads, that is. I have been over many threads. The algae or muck isn't out of control, but the water certainly isn't clear.

Definitely add some plants. You can get everything on sale now up here in the north because the season is coming to the end. Id go and purchase as many water hyacinths to cover 1/2 your pond's water surface. I know its a very debatable issue on here but i would add some dry good bacteria to the water every single day for 3 weeks. Id also add Koi clay twice a week till you close the pond. Your goal should be is to get the water in a very good state prior to winterizing the pond and you only have really a few weeks

Well, we found the jumper I had named Lucky. Guess he wasn't so lucky. He had jumped again and this time we found him by following the faint scent of rotting fish. I suppose it was meant to be.

I have put all the water hyacinth and water lettuce that I have in the larger pond and the water has cleared some, but it is still cloudy. I have started to rinse the filter sponges every day or every other day and that seems to help. I have a whole mess of water lilies to figure out this fall as well. I am somewhat overwhelmed with all the work still to do at the moment. My goal is to get rocks surrounding the temp big pond and get the water cleared up by the end of this long weekend.

Sometimes fish jump if they have parasites or the water conditions aren't good, so be on the alert for that. And sometimes they jump because they want to.

Sorry to hear about Lucky :(
