You should have seen the mess I made last march when I had to rebuild my pond .If I had help and the 3 snow storms would not have hit I would have had it done sooner.Still to this day there are lots to do .But I am getting a little caught up with the nicer weather .I have to mow the back yard for my chihuahuas because they get lost in it

Willo as you can see on the photos iv posted on this link, my filters are well below my water level, they are powered by a submersible pump located in a side bay of my vortex, these filters will sit at or below ground level and can push water up hill to a hight of 4 meters so the filter box can be placed at ground level and power a water fall so a slight up hill slope is not a problem

Ive been talking to my local aquatic center today and they will do me a very good deal on a oase biotec 12 screenmatic filter..

Coupled with my two 36w uv's i think this system would cope with my pond easily ?? The screen is instead of a vortex removing most of the rubbish before it clogs the filters up. The size of this would be ideal for the area im looking at to rehouse my filters.
The guy i was talking to has been running this filter for over 18 months now and said it works great as the screen removes most of the dirt apart from very fine stuff the filters dont need cleaning as much??

Ha ha.......so do i as ive been and purchased it :nailbiting: they did me a good deal on the price :). At least i have the capability to pump the right volume of water through my filters which can only help my pond & fish.
I will post some pics where ive got everything sorted :).
Thanks to everyone for the info and advice :):)

I’ve got a question........ With the new filters I’ve just bought came a biokick filter starter. Does the water temp have to be a certain temp before this can activate?? At the moment my pond temp is about 3-5 degrees C
If I connected my new filters up to my pond and just run them without the biokick because the temp is too low to activate it, would this be ok to do??? With these new filters I can run triple the amount of water through them as i can my old filters so the water would be getting cleaner.......in theory?? I know it would take longer for the bugs to build up without some kickstart BUT would it be safe for my fish is what im asking !!!!!

Basically willo in reality there is nothing going on in your pond at that temperature and the helpful bacteria that our filters create are more thn probably dead or in suspended animation for the winter months .
Things only start to pick up again as the temperature starts to rise above 10c for a number of weeks, when we should start feeding our koi/goldfish small amounts of wheatgerm and garlic .
The filters then start to pick up again as it gets warmer .
We dose our filters with Microbe_lift PL filter pad innoculent to give them a helping boost whilst doing post winter maintenance of our filters and ponds ...
Do you remember when you first put your filters on your pond.....is this filter running in conjuction with your other filter.... what happened to the easy pod ?
Keep a good eye on your ammonia levels , they should peeak when your pond is mature again running this filter in conjunction with your old ones . I cant really see it being a problem as long as you aware and keep an eye on your water perameters , your fish should be OK
