Blackmailer I read this with growing trepidation "i know its alot of koi but can't resist not taking them in".. I'm sorry but this attitude to keeping koi is going to have to be reversed pretty rapidly.
Other wise the way your doing things will deliver you to a large cliff edge, your going to fall off it and because of these stocking levels loose all of your fish not only the koi which will be sad:(
Koi are long lived and to be enjoyed for many years less is better that way your fish may live to see next year. at the moment your hurtling towards that cliff edge at a swift rate of knots my friend.
So loose some of the koi around about 20 of them .....

He did say some fish will be moved when his next pond is completed. Maybe the next pond will be epic. what are your plans for the next pond? Hopefully with that many koi, you are going all out!
Will have to be a mega pond

Unfortunately it's very tempting for a new pond owner to keep adding fish. They are all so beautiful and you want one of each kind. I think most of the long time pond owners on gpf realize how difficult it is to keep a high bio-load and be successful at it. A few years ago I went on a local pond tour and met a fellow that had a medium size swimming pool stocked with a lot of very large koi. His secret to success? He lived right next to a water retention pond and every day he did a 60% water change and flushed his old water into the retention pond. I would hate to see his water bill, but all his fish were healthy and looked great!
