OKAY, I may lose my mind with excitement! One of the pair of barred owls just sat on my lotus tub for 20 minutes before opting to plunge into the bog --- in BROAD daylight!
Every penny I spent on the camera was worth this video

That's awesome! I've never seen a barred owl in person but I hear them at a place I camp. Love their sound.

So that little dude can only go after ones that will fit in it's mouth or would it just bite one of the bigger ones and then go on from there and take more bites?

Jealous, as always!
Still not a single snake for me after all these years. I always thought the pond as well as my gardens and wood pile would attract garters but I haven't been so lucky

Checked in on a river bank restoration in a nearby park. I thought there'd be more diversity this year but unfortunately it was almost entirely black-eyed susans. There were a lot of completely bare areas that I didn't photograph as well. Some areas did look really nice, though.

I LOVE the Great Blues and had six nests around my pond when I lived in the Adirondacks...The noise all those chicks made was deafening...sounded like Jurassic Park!

I went to a rookery down there, it was prime nesting season. Loved seeing and hearing them all. And where they nest and how they nest was so cool, those huge birds up in trees and bushes. They sure were noisy
