Isn't the live rock the lighter weight rock .I know I have what the call here feather rock it is light weight but when you pick it up you better have long sleeves on and gloves it is like razor blades .I actually did like the stock tank it was cute

I did like the stock tank as well. I wanted more fish in there and I did not think it would work in favor of the fish if I added more. So I built the big one. believe or not I did the first large pond digging filling it up and rock work in 5 hours.

I wanted to get done early for a few reasons. Here in my part of FL it gets hot in the spring FAST. When I started it was 75 out side. When I turned the pump on for the first time after it was all set up it was 89 and humid. I also was going sailing in mid afternoon. ;-) lots of motivation. ;-)

Okay, so I hooked up my two so called 750gph pumps to my filter. Just seems that it is slow to come out. Can someone tell me the optimal flow for a 55g BD? How can I tell how fast the water really is flowing into the barrel?

To tell how fast you need a way to catch the water comming out the filter in a 5 gallon bucket and time it to see how fast it fills. You will need to do some math to figure gph.

Okay, The water fills the 5g bucket up in 55seconds roughly. so that means it is pumping out around 300gph? I do not think that is enough for this set up. :-( I have the two 750gph pumps hooked up to the system. I think I know what the issue is. I could not find a Y to put the hoses to one hose to the BD. I had to use a T so it is probably messing up the flow there? Ideas?

Q...what size hose are you using? and how much head is there?

That would depend on you electric rates but that is a small amount of amps .Does it say on it how much watts it uses that is a better indicator .

I bought a energy rating meter that shows how much electricity anything uses .You just plug the item in and it shows you how much electric it is using .My electric bill a month on a 2440 sq.ft house a month is around 125 to 135 dollars a month .
