Keep a "tip" cup on the bar, when a friend puts something in the pond, it'll cost them. I think it's cool just the way it is. Are your friends trainable ? lol

What about putting a piece of quarter round or something around the opening so if someone does spill their drink it won't flow into the pond, or so something can't just slide into it.
