You can lay window screening over the lattice .I get mine at habitat for humanity for 5 dollars a big wide roll
The whole enclosure used to be screened in. A few hurricanes and a lot of UV damage later and it wasn't doing too well.
Also, I like the breeze that the lattice gives me.
My wife never spends a lot of time out there anyway.

Before. With the screens, there wasn't enough breeze for my windchimes to make a noise.
Now they're banging away.
My design will keep away fishing birds and feral cats. Little else.

Here are the two fishes.
A koi and a comet.
They seem to like each others company

Will be interesting to see that koi outgrow that goldfish in no time at all! Pretty fish :)

I used some water "bacteria" tablets the day I started the pumps and a very expensive bottle of refrigerated bacteria a few days later. (Directly into the pump inlet)
It's been running about 2 weeks with two 7 to 8" fishes and today the water tested at 0 nitrate and 0 nitrite. Ammonia 0.25 or less and PH 8.2.
It looks like I'm ready for a few more fish.

I would be careful of that ,remember fish have babies and you will want to enjoy them and not worry about being over stocked .Plus you will have to quarantine new fish and worry about that

Well. Now I'll have to wait and see.
My wife tossed in eight more small koi to surprise me.
I was surprised....And went out and got a $70 bigger bottle of the Fritz zyme and poured it into my filter. Fingers crossed.....

Cool.
It's been about 6 hours since ive been home and 10 hours since the fish went in and all of the fishes are actively and quickly swimming around and eating.
None of them seem the least bit stressed out.
The parameters test out perfectly. Ammonia is now no trace.
I'll test again tomorrow.
